Fundraising Idea - Discount Cards Printer friendly version
Cards that offer a discount off purchases in local shops or restaurants that are sold in aid of your cause.
What you need:
A range of local shops or restaurant that will offer a discount, printed cards.
How to do it:
Contact local shops and restaurants to ask them if they will offer a discount to those that support your charity. This is best done face to face with the owner or manager. If they agree, they’ll need to get all members of staff to apply the discount if a customer has one of your cards. They may want to give you a copy of their logo to include on the design of the card. Once you have a few places signed up, design your cards. It’s usual to make them business or credit card sized and include your charity’s logo as well as those of the outlets participating. You could use a ‘make your own business cards’ pack from office supply shops and print on your own or upload your designs to one of the online business card printing firms. Set the ‘suggested donation’ amount or price for the cards. The better your discounts the more you’ll be able to ask for. Sell your cards to anyone who’ll buy one through all the local networks available to you.
How much to expect:
£200 to £500 depending on how many you sell and for how much. We based this on selling 100 at £2 each.
Works well for:
Absolutely anyone who is raising money in their local community. Even better if you’ve got a gift for sales.
Top tip:
Using an online printing firm is usually cheaper for quantities over 100. Some may even offer it for free!
And the big thank you goes to: Dave from Derby. Hello Dave!
